Thousand Oaks, CA - Harry Taplin, 90, of Thousand Oaks, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Harry was a proud graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Class of 1957, and served his country with honor for 13 years in the Coast Guard before continuing his career in the military. Following his military service, he dedicated over two decades to the development and patenting of energy-saving technologies—work that reflected his deep curiosity, ingenuity, and commitment to making a positive impact on the world. He lectured for over 30 years internationally for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, major corporations, and the Association of Energy Engineers becoming president of AEE in 1995. He lectured and wrote several books on the subject of increasing the efficiency and reducing pollution from thermal plants. He was granted two patents on his process to eliminate CO2 and the production of considerably more energy from fossil fuel combustion systems. He held three professional engineering licenses from various states and unlimited deck and engineering merchant Marine officer licenses as well as first class pilot for Honolulu and Pearl Harbor. He also worked at Pearl Harbor in the design and troubleshooting ships and submarines and could be found operating his catamaran from Waikiki Beach or a 150-passenger sailing catamaran out of Honolulu Harbor for Evening dinner cruises in his spare time.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ann Taplin; sons Carl Taplin and Steve Taplin; daughter Judy Taplin; grandchildren Kenny Robone, Amanda Robone, Ryan Taplin, Cody Taplin and Sarah Foutch; His Great Grandchildren, Quinton Taplin and Sarrah Taplin and his brother Carl Taplin of Long Island, New York.

Harry was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Taplin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, CA, where family and friends will gather to celebrate and honor a life well lived.
