After a long and courageous journey of faith and perseverance, Catherine Elizabeth Scott went home to be with Jesus on June 8, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on June 15, 1961, Catherine grew up in Newbury Park, California, and graduated from Newbury Park High School with the Class of 1979. She attended California State University, Northridge, where her faith inspired a lifelong commitment to serving others. While a student, she founded and led "Covered by His Wings," a ministry serving individuals with mental health challenges.

Catherine earned both a Master of Business Administration and a master's degree in special education. Although she enjoyed a successful career in finance, her heart led her in a different direction. She went on to become a special education teacher at Township Elementary School in Simi Valley, where she found great joy in helping her students learn, grow, and succeed. Her patience, compassion, and unwavering belief in each child's potential made a lasting difference in the lives of her students and their families.

Known for her intelligence, strong faith, generous heart, and silly sense of humor, Catherine touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, friends, and family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Hugh Scott, and her nephew, Dustin Christian.

She is survived by her sister, Anne Raithel, and brother-in-law, Reid Raithel; her sister, Julie Christian; her niece, Alicia Johnston, and husband, Kyle Johnston; her great-niece, Riley Johnston; her great-nephew, Jameson Johnston; and her step-nephew, Ryan Raithel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Church of Simi Valley, 2900 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley, California 93065.

Cathy will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
